Case

Furnished for new ways of working at Trygg-Hansa

Activity-based ways of working and a reduced office area set demands for furniture that could optimally utilise the premises. Architects from Tengbom designed the space and EFG supplied the interior design when Trygg-Hansa’s head office shrank from seven to two floors.

Activity-based working with furniture from EFG

Insurance company Trygg-Hansa’s head office on Kungsholmen in Stockholm is housed in the same impressive building that was designed by the Tengbom architectural practice in the late 1970s. Today the classic office premises have been replaced by an activity-based way of working that applies to the entire organisation. The starting point was the company reducing its office space, from seven floors to just two. The change demanded a tight focus on using the space efficiently – while simultaneously maintaining identity, satisfaction and productivity for employees. The interior design solutions were created through a structured process following careful exploration of the company’s needs. To avoid anyone having to walk far to the space they needed, the layout varied between open plan offices, group rooms, meeting rooms, individual rooms and quiet rooms.

Interior design with customised products

EFG worked on this project with architects from Tengbom. The workstations were designed with the Active sit-stand desk, Tab sound absorbing screens, private Surround workplaces and work chairs from Savo. The Collaborate desk was used in conference rooms and for project tables, with electrical outlets in the table top and A-shaped wooden legs. Trygg-Hansa chose to customise several products from EFG’s range with Avec tables and Entry storage units with wooden fronts, which are based on the Storage family. Customised matching wooden benches in light ash were selected to go with Collaborate. The workplace also contained plenty of group tables and project workplaces for quick meetings in smaller working groups. Today, everyone in Trygg-Hansa’s office is mobile, finding space to work according to their needs – exactly as it was intended from the beginning.
