Siemens head office - inspiring spaces

Challenges and solutions
Relocating the head office of Siemens to new facilities in Arenastaden, Stockholm, marked a shift to a workplace with increased flexibility and increased activity-based functionality. The aim was to create an inspiring office where people naturally meet and interact. The total size of the office space was reduced in the process from 20 000 square metres to 10 000 after the move, and the number of workstations from 700 to 540.
Layouts in the office are a combination of open work areas as well as meeting- and conference rooms of different sizes, well distributed over the five floors that Siemens now occupy - designed to promote interaction, to motivate and inspire. Siemens’ systems and technologies for communication, safety, sustainability and workplace functionality have been implemented throughout the building.
The interior design process, headed by Betina Ottosson, has involved staff by the means of focus groups, as well as of a photography competition that resulted in unique, breathtaking photo walls. Natural materials and textures like blonde wood and natural stone, enhanced by clever lighting, all set a calm, light colour scheme. “What we wanted was a personal touch, and spaces that reflect the spirit of this office” says Betina Ottosson, Location Manager.
